Flood claims affect commercial businesses of all shapes and sizes, from a mobile home that doubles as a bait and tackle shop, to the bakeries, bistros, antiques and jewelry stores of Main Street America. They can also affect schools, churches, office buildings, apartment complexes, manufacturing plants, and some of the largest corporations that you can imagine. And for all of these risks, it is the NFIP “General Property Form” that provides primary coverage.  Upon completion of this course:

  • You’ll know the coverages, protocols, and processes of adjusting commercial flood claims for the NFIP;
  • You’ll learn the purpose of the General Property form (or policy...the terms are interchangeable) and what type of property it is used to cover;
  • You’ll be able to identify the types of buildings and property insured under Coverage A, and be able to distinguish between "household personal property" and "other than household personal property" insured under Coverage B;
  • You’ll learn how to identify and distinguish between the different types of stock; and finally,
  • You’ll learn how to inspect, scope, and accurately evaluate a commercial loss under the NFIP General Property policy.

To ensure these objectives, we have divided up this course into 9 lessons, each directed at a specific aspect of adjusting this complex form of coverage.

*Note: Due to the focus and "federal" nature of this curriculum, Adjuster Continuing Education ("CE") credits are not provided.
